Passive House - Skillman, NJ
This transitional style home was built under Passive House standards. In addition to it's high energy efficiency, the house was built off-site through custom pre-fabricated panels for an increased tightness of envelope to mitigate air infiltration. The facade consists of a super insulated cellulose fill as well as insulated windows and an integrated Hardi plank rain-screen system. The client opted for Tesla solar roof tiles to disguise the overbearing look of standard solar panels. The solar energy is stored in a Tesla power wall battery backup system and acts as a generator in the case of a power outage. On the interior. the structure consists of a mix of heavy timber columns and beams for a Scandinavian inspired design. This five bed/six and half bath home strikes the perfect balance between traditional exterior appearance with high tech modern construction methodology.
